Your phone admin, handled

Patch makes the call. You skip the hold.

Tell Patch what you need: a table for tonight, where your parcel is, a word with the bank. It rings the business from your own number. It sits through the hold music. It asks you only when it has to. Then it tells you how it went.

How it works

You say what you need. Patch does the dialling, the waiting and the small talk.

  1. Ask

In Claude, ChatGPT or Codex, or straight from the menu bar. Your assistant hands Patch the details it already knows.

"Ring The Larder and get us a table for two tonight, 7:30-ish."

  2. Alex calls

Alex is your Patch assistant, named however you like. It rings from your own verified number, so callbacks reach you. It handles the phone menu and waits on hold. If the place is closed, it rings when they open.

New number. Nothing is dialled until you tap Allow.

  3. Asks only when needed

If the business offers a choice Alex can't make, it asks you with a card or a notification while they wait. You can listen in or join at any time.

"Quarter past eight, or try for nine?"

  4. Results land

A clear outcome comes back to your chat and the app: confirmed or not, what was agreed, any reference number, and the full transcript.

Booked. 20:15 tonight, table for two, under Josh.

See it work

The good bits, up close.

A few moments from the Mac app. The same calls run from Claude, ChatGPT or Codex.

1 · Set up your assistant

Name your assistant and choose how it sounds.

Call it Alex, or anything you like. Start from one of four speaking styles, or describe your own in a few words (“calm, a bit cheeky, quick”) and Patch turns it into a full character: pace, warmth, the phrases it reaches for. Play it before it rings anyone. These are real samples from the app.

"Hi there, I'm calling on behalf of Josh, about a table for two tonight. Certainly, I'll check that."

"Hi there, I'm calling on behalf of Josh, about a table for two tonight. Certainly, I understand."

"Hi there, I'm calling on behalf of Josh, about a table for two tonight. No worries, I've got that."

2 · Make a call

Type what you need. Patch finds the place and picks the time.

Patch looks up the number and checks the opening hours, then asks only what it can't work out: which branch you mean, and when to ring if they're closed. A closed place gets called as soon as it opens.

3 · Your places

Save a place once, then just say "call my GP".

The places you ring often are saved with their number and hours, so a few words is enough next time.

4 · On the call

Join the call when they need you, then hand it back.

When the bank needs the account holder, press Join and you're on the line. Alex stops transcribing while you talk. Press Hand back and Alex carries on where you left off.

Your number, not a stranger's

Verify your mobile once and Patch calls from it. Businesses see a UK number they can ring back, and the callback comes to you.

Results you can use

Confirmed or not, what was agreed, any reference number, and the transcript, in the app and back in your chat.

Practice calls

Rehearse against simulated businesses, hold music included, before anyone's phone rings. Free, unlimited.

Hold assist

Pay for talking, not waiting.

Most of a call to the bank is music. While you're on hold, Patch switches its voice off and listens with something far cheaper. When a person picks up, it's back within about a second. So the first 20 minutes of hold on every call are free, and after that it's 3p a minute.

Works with your assistant

Your assistant already knows the details. Now it can pick up the phone.

Patch is an MCP server. Connect it to Claude, ChatGPT or Codex and your assistant can place calls, answer Alex's questions and read back the outcome. Prefer to type it yourself? The menu bar app does the same.

Privacy & safety

Polite, honest, and on a short lead.

Patch speaks for you. It never pretends to be you. These rules are built into how it dials and talks, not tucked away in the terms.

  • Never claims to be youPatch calls on your behalf, by name, as your assistant. It doesn't impersonate you.
  • Says it's an AI if askedAsked straight, it answers straight, every time.
  • Never handles your secretsNo passwords, PINs, full card numbers or security answers. If a business needs them, Patch puts you on the line instead.
  • Recording is off by defaultTranscripts are kept for 30 days, then deleted. When you join a call, your part isn't transcribed.
  • Your OK before new numbersThe first call to any number waits for your tap, even when your assistant asked for it.
  • Stop means stopAnyone who asks not to be called again is never called again. Telemarketing, surveys and pranks are off the table.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Will the business know it's an AI?

Patch introduces itself as calling on your behalf. If anyone asks whether it's an AI, it says yes. It doesn't pretend to be a person, and it never pretends to be you.

Which number do they see?

Yours. You verify your mobile once with a quick code call, and Patch uses it as caller ID. The business sees a familiar UK number, and if they ring back, they reach you.

Can businesses call my assistant back?

Not yet. Today callbacks go to your mobile, because that's the number they see. Coming soon: your own Patch number, so a business can ring back and Alex picks up, takes the message and updates the call.

What if they need something Patch doesn't know?

It asks you, with a card in the app or a notification, while the business holds. If they need the account holder in person, Patch connects you and steps back.

Can I listen in or take over?

Yes. Open the live call page to follow the transcript, or press Join to come on the line. Recording pauses while you're on.

How does hold get so cheap?

While you're on hold, Patch switches its voice off and listens with something far cheaper. When a real person comes back, Patch is talking again within about a second. The first 20 minutes of hold on every call are free; after that it's 3p a minute.

Do I need Claude or ChatGPT?

No. The Mac menu bar app places calls on its own. Connecting an assistant is optional, and handy when the details are already in your chat or inbox.

What won't it do?

No telemarketing, surveys, pranks or calls to people who aren't expecting you. No emergency or premium-rate numbers. It never handles card numbers, PINs or passwords: you join for that part. For now it calls UK numbers only, in English. Read the full rules.

Do you record my calls?

Recording is off by default. Transcripts are kept for 30 days so you can check what was agreed, then deleted. You can delete any call sooner, any time, from the app.

Is there an iPhone app?

Mac comes first. Your assistant can place calls from any device, and an iPhone app is on the roadmap.

Never sit through the hold music again.
